Above: A Redbot homage to DEVO’s Album — Duty Now For The Future.
This album was a huge influence on me when it came out 30 years ago in 1979 — one of the first record albums I bought as a newly-employed 15 year-old with his money burning a hole in his pocket…

I joined the DEVO fan club right away — I’m a beautiful mutant — and I even got a red DEVO flower-pot hat later on.
I’m playing my old DEVO album’s today while working on my Redbots… if you haven’t given your old DEVO records a spin in a while, how about right now.
Enjoy!

At The Redbot Factory
It’s Monday and I must make Redbots… happy work for this onehumanbeing.

Build Time…
I’m looking to have 50 new Redbot Ownership Kits ready by later this week, and that means a lot of little pieces have to be made, assembled, collected into kits and processed.
Time for the onehumanmachine to work overtime…

Q: Are We Not Men?
Without music, there is no Redbots — one inspiration — Mark Mothersbaugh and DEVO!
Below: Redbot is leaning against an unfinished (finished? unfinished?) painting of Mark Mothersbaugh by Tania…

Your host, Jon, onehumanbeing, along with his beautiful wife Tania and her family, had a great time at the Soundwalk this evening in the Art’s District of downtown LB.
One installation that really impressed me was a guy sweeping the sidewalk with his broom hooked to a microphone that got fed through some effects and then played back to headphones attached to the sweepers waist.

A very straight-forward piece — just grab some headphones and tune in to the wonder of sweeping sounds… seemed like something Wayne from The Flaming Lips would use on-stage. Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the artist crew that did this piece.
Another cool piece was by a crew called HOLLOW BODIES that created a mesmerizing sound blend with numerous effects, tape machines and interactive sound boards — met Nolan from this crew — would love to see more of their work…

The piece that Tania, Derek (Tania’s brother) and I wish we could have stayed longer at was the piece by the Hop-Frog Kollectiv that was a 5 hour spiritual cleansing mediation of sound performed in a U-Haul truck in a parking lot — if you like long meditative drones that get under the skin and into the supernatural frequencies you would have loved this piece…

Several Redbots got posted along the way…

…and I got to give away a number of the special edition buttons that I’ve made to celebrate Long Beach arts and artists this month…

I’ll be carrying a supply of buttons with me this month — so hit me up for a freebie if you see me around — one of my great joys is giving away my buttons…

Celebrating Public Art in Long Beach
I’m making special limited edition buttons to give away this month…
It’s Arts Month here in Long Beach and Redbot is celebrating it’s hometown… If you see me around make sure to ask for one of these limited edition buttons.
So far, I know I’ll be at the Soundwalk in downtown LB on Saturday evening — October 3rd… see you there!
